Workshops

Lost Soup Kitchen and the Rag and Bone Workshop joined forces at Doune the Rabbit Hole 2016 to run two workshops: spoon carving on the Saturday and making milking-stools on the Sunday! We had our very dear friend and Glasgow-based artist Anna Crilly help us on both days, whose help was invaluable. Despite a slow start on the Saturday morning (for half an hour or so we thought we might be the only four people in the geo-dome all day) both workshops were busy, bustling and very well received! Thanks to Doune the Rabbit Hole for having us, we had great fun!

LSK workshop at Govanhill Baths TNICAF - 5th December 2015

The third LSK workshop happened in the hubbub of This Is Not A Craft Fair at the Govanhill Baths.

Based on our great experience from the previous workshop we had this one running for the whole day, where people could drop in and join us to continue work on a collective spoon already started, or start their own from scratch and see it through to completion, to take home with them! We were really happy that all ages and backgrounds joined us round the table that day, celebrating the fantastic melting pot that Govanhill is!

Like last time we made a tasty veg soup (V, V and C suitable) which went down a treat! We received a total of £40 in donations which covered the cost of materials for the workshop and ingredients for the soup. Thanks to everyone who gave a donation, Govanhill baths for having us and to all that came along and made the day so enjoyable!

The second LSK workshop happened as part of the Merchant City Festival this July 2015. We were lucky enough to be hosted by Greyfriars Community Garden, just between High Street Train station and Strathclyde university, a fantastic. Having a whole day to do the workshop with the participants was fantastic and meant that people could really get stuck into carving their spoon to completion!

We made a delicious vegetable soup (suitable for veggies, vegans and celiacs!) and used herbs and some dark-green leafy veg from the garden!

We had some funding from the "Merchant City Festival - Get Involved Fund" which enabled us to buy our cooking equipment (plus some more tools needed for the workshop), helping us to add the food sharing element into the mix!

LSK workshop at the Tramway - 14th March 2015

The launch of the Lost Soup Kitchen happened as part of "Glasgow’s Green - Imagining a sustainable city" - a full day of workshops and talks centred around sustainable living in a city, at the Tramway. We recieved some funding from Glasgow's Green for this workshop - this enabled us to buy our first workshop tools and materials! The day was a success and has strengthened our determination to continue to facilitate practical and meaningful situations where people can come together, make objects and share food.
